Handcraft Tile, San Jose, CA  1926-present

A Mayan-inspired cross glyph is depicted on this antique Handcraft tile.  Made from red clay, this low relief engobe tile was finished in a warm, terra cotta slip glaze.  This can be seen in both of Norman Karlson’s American Art Tile books.

3  3/4″ square x 1/2″ thick
