Zanesville Stoneware, Zanesville, OH 1889-2002
Here is an incredible hand-thrown and hand-signed oil jar with applied handles and ornamentation. Lawrence F. Pickrull, the master potter was known as the star of the hand turners. He produced some of the company’s largest pots, hand signing some of his favorites and was the last hand turner employed there, retiring in 1946. This jar has mottled matte glazing, with creamy beige and light tan colors. On each side is a floral medallion between two hand-carved, decorative bands.
