Moravian Pottery & Tile, Doyestown, PA  1898-present

Lovely vintage Lotus in terra cotta signed tile from Moravian.  This heavy-relief tile depicts a naively modeled lotus flower in a pedestal vase.  The charmingly folkloric quality of the design is characteristic of this acclaimed tile maker.  Pictured on P.224 of Norman Karlson’s Encyclopedia of American Art Tile (regions 1 & 2).
