Claycraft Potteries, Los Angeles, CA  1921-1939

An image from the Wild West is depicted on this large vintage relief tile.  Six oxen are pulling the covered wagon through the desert.   There are mountains in the background with desert cacti and rocks in the foreground.   Lots of details and self framed.   We believe someone covered this tile with a product to darken the glaze; usually Claycraft tiles have a more muted, dusty look.   Even so, the darker glaze really accentuates the wagon and oxen.    These large scenic tiles are perfect in a fireplace surround, but they can also be framed in wood or iron and hung as art.
