Fountain Boy on Tortoise GMB

Gladding McBean, Los Angeles, CA  1890-present

From GMB’s earlier days (1920-1930) comes this spectacular fountain spitter.    A young boy with bow & arrows is riding a large tortoise.   The piece has satiny turquoise glazing and wonderful details.   The water would be pumped out through the mouth of the tortoise.    Or, it could be strictly ornamental garden art without a fountain.
