Glen Lukens Volcanic Bowl

On October 29, 2015, in Mid-Century/Modern, Pottery, by nancy

Glen Lukens, Los Angeles, CA  1887-1967

Known for his innovative glazes, Glen Lukens was very influential in the pottery movement.   Here is a bowl with amazing glaze work.   There are hints of fossilized wood, pooled cobalt on inside and thick cobalt dripping around top edge, and volcanic, crater-like effects with some glaze pops.   A very unique piece.
