Grueby Cherub Tile

Grueby, So.Boston, MA  1894-1919

The production of Grueby tiles was very labor intensive, but their thick glazes and artistic designs won them awards in the U.S. as well as Europe.  The raised image is a cherub with either symbols or tambourines.   The two matte glazes have that curdled look that Grueby is known for.

6″ square x 3/4″ thick
