Karoly Fulop  1893-1963

This elegant ceramic sculpture depicts a mother cradling her child on her lap.   Has delicate detailing and satiny turquoise glaze with crazing throughout.

Karoly Fulop was born in Czabadka, Hungry.  He was a painter, sculptor, and watercolorist.  He studied art in Budapest, Munich, and Paris, but it was medieval art that most influenced his style. His paintings, watercolors and sculptures all have the decorative quality and detail typical of the Byzantines.   Fulop was an artist of unique and curious combinations; he incorporated his Catholic background with symbolist images, very modern yet in the tradition of past generations.

We have other ceramic pieces and framed paintings not yet listed.    If interested, please contact us for details/photos.
