Muresque Tiles, Oakland, CA  1925-1934

Missions were a popular subject with tile makers during the 1920’s and 1930’s.   Here is Muresques’s depiction of a Spanish-style mission with mountains in the background.   Muted matte glazes, artistic details and self framing all contribute to the tile’s value.
