Paul Revere Hull St. Tile

On December 29, 2011, in American Tiles, by nancy

Paul Revere Pottery, Boston, MA  1908-1942

From the pottery class of the Saturday Evening Girls Club & Paul Revere Pottery, this great tile is one of a series of ten hard-to-find tiles depicting famous historical sites in Boston.  Hull Street was also one of the early addresses of the pottery.  This incised tile depicts the narrow, historic row-lined street in charming detail, down to the window muntins, chimney stacks, and peek-a-boo treetop.  See this tile on page 90 of  Norman Karlson’s Encyclopedia of American Art Tiles, Region 1.
