Rookwood Pottery, Cincinnati, OH  1880-1965

Deep relief, vellum finish, pastel rainbow polychrome tile trivet featuring a vibrantly lifelike Macaw parrot perched on a branch amidst a profusion of exotic blossoms. This is a wonderful early example, dated 1920, where the parrot is looking up as if it’s about to start preening. The piece is also marked with the mold number 3077.  This trivet would look gorgeous framed or set into a table, either on its own or with other tile accents – the creative possibilities are endless!
