Vintage Malibu Cuenca Tile

On September 24, 2016, in California Tiles, by nancy

Malibu Potteries, Malibu, CA  1926-1932

Exquisite example of Malibu’s tile making, using the cuenca method:   thin lines or ridges of clay form the design outline and separate the glaze colors, which were applied by hand using a syringe.   There are six colors on this vintage tile, with wonderful mottled, matte glaze.  A real gem!
