Lamosa Ladrillera, Monterrry, Mexico   Circa 1940’s

Exceptional, rare, polychrome, cuerda seca round tea tile was crafted by the Mexican company Lamosa.   The wonderful design is of a beautiful woman wrapped in a lilac-colored shawl, wearing a traditional, embroidered blouse and balancing a bowl of fruit. The vellum glazes are creamy and vibrant. We understand that this factory’s output was overseen by personnel who were familiar with California and San Jose potteries and in fact, their tiles are often mistaken for San Jose
examples. The designs were marketed in the United States and are today considered extremely collectible due to their beauty and scarcity.
