Winkle Terra Cotta Co., St. Louis, MO  1883-1943

This old ceramic stove tile comes from Norman Karlson’s collection and has a deeply-molded portrait of a Victorian woman.  It has bright, glossy glazing and fine details.  The ‘notch’ on the left side was made before it was fired in the kiln.
