American Encaustic Tiling Co., Los Angeles, CA  1919-1933

Bright colors are outlined with wide brown lines creating a Moorish-influenced pattern.   This vintage tile has a smooth surface and mix of matte and satiny glazes.  Although part of a larger pattern, this tile looks good displayed on the diagonal.  Can be seen in Norman Karlson’s Encyclopedia of American Art Tiles, Region 6, page 22.
