Rookwood Pottery, Cincinnati, OH  1880-1965

Gorgeous and large shouldered vase decorated by Charles Stewart Todd in 1921.   Unusually colorful and vibrant for a work by Todd.  Raised and incised floral decoration on a wax mat ground in an orangey ochre color, with a sprayed moss green extending from the bottom.   The decoration has a lot of depth and the glazes are well defined (Todd seemed to prefer letting them bleed and run over the surface).  This piece displays well and is one of the better pots made by Todd.

This vase has had some professional restoration to what appears to be two opposing breaks extending down approximately 4″ from the top rim.    Last photo shows this with other Rookwood vases, listed separately.
