Markoff Mosaic Tile, Inglewood, CA  1926-1945

This moulded, engobe glazed tile has been artfully buffed to produce a rusticated patina suggestive of antiquity.
The abstracted geometric design coupled with the ochre, brick and sage palette contributes to this tile’s distinctive appeal.
See this same tile in Norman Karlson’s Encyclopedia of American Art Tiles, Region 6, P.244.
