CALCO (California Clay Products), So. Gate, CA  1923-1932

The origin of the Calco pottery is mainly the story of one remarkable ceramist and tile maker, Rufus Keeler.  He especially liked creating new glazes, rich and brilliant colors and he was deeply concerned with the quality of his clay mixture and stove to see that his creations would last forever. Polychrome glazes are set off nicely by the brown border on this vintage relief tile.  Notice the fine detailing and workmanship one would expect of Calco.  Install in a fireplace, frame in iron or wood, or any other installation for a wonderful asset to any setting.   TILE ON LEFT SOLD.
