Zanesville Stoneware Company, Zanesville, OH  1889-2002

ZSC is one of the nation’s oldest potteries and the last surviving pottery from Zanesville’s golden era of pottery production.  This vintage 2-handled vase is from their Omar Ware line.  It has a gloppy, uneven surface with satiny splotches of maroon and green glaze against a matte beige and tan background.   It has the original paper label on the bottom which reads:  “Then to the lip of this poor earthen urn I lean’d the secret of my life to learn.”   Hand thrown.
