Harding Black, San Antonio, TX  1940-1990

Wonderful vintage tile panel is Harding Black’s depiction of a Mexican market.   Men and women are selling their wares in this colorful scene.  Each tile is approximately 6″ x 6.”   Can be framed or set as a focal point of an installation.  One tile was professionally recreated (look at tile with the bottom of the green apron) and another was glued. Harding’s greatest contribution to the ceramics community was his glaze research, primarily his attempts to recreate ancient Chinese glazes.  He kept extensive notes on his glaze research, and while he was alive, Harding Black freely shared his research.
